The
question on everyone’s mind at the end of this game was ‘does
Pupps eat stunned or un – stunned chicken?’ but one thing was
clear after the game, Bulwer were well and truly stunned by
Asianos on Sunday morning.
The game
began with both teams playing the ball along the floor trying to
pass their way towards goal. With Bulwer beginning with 10 men
Asianos didn’t want to take it easy and coach Booma didn’t want
another NVA result on his hands so he and sidekick Azhar Ali
kept it quiet and Asianos took the lead with ‘Hello Slaaaam
alaikum’ Atiq (who says he has played in every position except
goalkeeper) scoring after 20 minutes. Atiq playing as a striker
and was hassling and harrying the defence and he along with
Zoobz, Titch (who luckily managed to drag himself out of bed)
and Sid were creating some useful openings without hitting the
target.
The second
goal for Asianos came via the Asianos’ academy boys combing on
the left Zuby layed it to Titch who played in Zoobz and his
trickery was too much for the centre back, no need for Zoobz to
even dive penalty Asianos.
The finish
was just what you expect from Zubair Haleem in the corner as
cool as you like. The defence of Asianos looked tight and
compact with Sahir and Chanawala screening the back four
excellently. Anjum was keeping their most effective player quiet
whilst he was also getting into the other teams half without
having a nose bleed.
Asianos
went into half time 2-0 but the talking point of the half wasn’t
on the pitch it was when Azhar Ali, linesman for the half, saw a
dog running towards him. He decided to drop the flag and froze
like a statute and luckily for him the dog didn’t spot him and
he breathed a sigh of relief. Towards the end of the first half
Asianos had a freekick some 35 yards out and Iddy started having
flashbacks from last week only this time it went high, wide and
not at all handsome and this time T was there to witness it.
The second
half began with Chanawala spraying the ball about by only using
the outside of the right boot, it must have some sort of special
powers and Sahir managing to concentrate on the game without
thinking too much about the website and again it was lots of
passing and moving from both teams, Asianos were soaking up the
pressure and hitting Bulwer on the counter. The third goal for
Asianos went in midway through the second period when Zoobz and
Titch combined yet again and Titch’s shot was parried by the
keeper but only as far as Atiq who slotted in the rebound and as
a result of scoring the two goals had 2 get the drinks in at the
clubhouse after, ‘keep scoring mate’, that’s the words of Titch
who along with other team mates don’t mind this theme ‘if Atiq
scores he buys the drinks!!!’
Bulwer
managed to score a consolation goal towards the end with Amar
Sadiq giving them an early Easter present but apart from that
Asianos were solid throughout with the entire team working hard
and with Zuby, Iddy, Cheeko and Anjum working well together
along with Sahir and Chanwala in the midfield. The wingers Titch
and especially Sid were also getting through a lot of work
running up and down the flanks.
Zaf and
Pupps had cameos roles towards the end coming on as late subs
but Booma’s instructions were not followed he said play to Zaf’s
strengths ‘his head’. He didn’t manage to score but held it up
well and bought others into the game. Atiq didn’t mange to take
the match ball but could and should have had a hat trick, the
only thing he was left with was his multi coloured car.
Whilst
Pupps is still checking whether statistically and technically he
eats stunned, un-stunned or any other form of chicken one thing
was certain after this Sunday’s game Asianos thoroughly deserved
the three points and it was a very disciplined and organised
performance.
