Asianos deserved their win over
NVA on Sunday because of some good defending which started with
Sahir in midfield and Shaf and Speedy in defence. Titch and
Zubair were in good scoring form to rake up their tallies.
Asianos missed many chances today but the score was still a
healthy 4-1.
Early morning kick offs does cause a problem for Asianos
players. In line of being very consistent only the team turns up
to the pitch with 10 mins before kick off. Problems with the
keeper meant Azhar Ali had to deputise in goal. Asianos started
well with some good passing, Zaki and Zubair had early chance
but were unable to convert with Zaki hitting the crossbar after
lobbing the outcoming NVA keeper. Titch (Yaseen Patel) was
completing some mesmerising runs down the wing. One of those
dashes enabled Titch to enter the oppositions box cross the ball
only for NVA's defender handling the ball. Referee Ash
Rashid pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Zubair Haleem,
gave the keeper no chance, 1-0 Asianos (20mins). After the
restart NVA upped the pressure on Asianos creating problems for
the fullbacks. This resulted in 2 consecutive corners, in which
a guilt edge chance was brilliantly saved by the deputising
keeper Azhar. Asianos now realising that this would be no easy
game stepped on the gas and goal scorer Atiq instigated the
second goal for Asisnos after a fine ball through to unleash Titch
whom rounded the keeper and played it across to Atiq to score a
second for Asianos 2-0 (40mins). Half time and Asianos went in
ahead.
NVA hit back after the break though, when the sprightly right
winger caused havoc to force a corner. The corner came in and NVA'a
Seb Veron lookalike Fahad, rose highest and powered a header
past Azhar to bring the score to 2-1 (50mins). Asianos did ride
their luck at certain times but their counter-attack play was
very good. Another counter for Asianos and Zubair slots
home after a good work from Zaki, 3-1 (60mins). After that Amir
had two one on one's with the keeper only to hit the ball wide
on both occasions. Manager Zahir rung in some changes and bought
on Chanawala, Chilli and Crouch (Zafir Hussain). Zaf had an easy
chance to score with his second touch only to head wide. Asianos
was defending really well and limited NVA to half chances. Sahir
was excellent in breaking up the play and distributing it in
central midfield. With some result beyond doubt with good work
from Asianos left flank and Zubair crossing the ball for Zaf to
power in a diving header to make the score4-1 (80mins). |
